If you enjoyed reading my NYCR Picks for fall, then you should know that there is a place where you can score many of them on a budget – JCPenney.
I just checked out their latest new arrivals for fall, and was excited to see affordable versions of so many of the fall trends we’ve been hearing about —
The Peter Pan Blouse
I like the fact that this peter pan collared top ($16) can do double-duty — right now, it’s perfect by itself or layered under a cardigan. But come late fall and winter, you could even throw a crewneck sweater on over it and let the white collar peek out.
This faux leather accent dress ($35) is a bit bad-ass, don’t you think? I like that — even though it’s very edgy with the leather detailing on the front and the zipper — that the dress is still a classic silhouette.
This “moto” trench coat ($70) can flatter so many different body types — with its wide belt at the waist, it creates a chic hourglass shape. I love coats and jackets that nip in at the waist. I also love the off-center zipper and the contrast piping.
Peplums
The color of this peplum blouse ($16) is really beautiful. It’s somewhere between a mustard and a mango I guess 🙂 And even though it’s a bold color, I think you could pair it with other bold colors — dark green, chocolate brown, burgundy, plum, etc.
Colorblocking
I am seriously in love with this colorblock sheath dress ($40). When I first saw it, the shade of blue and the polka dot on the front panel instantly reminded me of the fall 2011 Marc Jacobs collection.
Ankle Boots
These ankle boots ($42) are right on trend for fall. The low, stacked wood heel, the side zipper, the British Invasion feel to them … booties like these are on every fall shoe roundup.
Emerald Green
When I saw that emerald green was going to be big for fall, I was pretty excited. It has to be one of my favorite colors. This tweed skirt ($30) looks so luxurious and expensive … the price tag is amazing!
Equally at home with a gray t-shirt, a white collared button down or a sheath dress, this rectangular stone necklace ($16) looks dressy but can be worn with so many different outfits.
