RECAP: Modcloth’s #FashionTruth Casting Call For All

Y’all know that Modcloth is one of my all-time favorite brands. The pieces from their retro, whimsical and feminine collections are always on my wish list.

And as if there weren’t already endless reasons to love them, they recent made a pledge toput an end to the extreme Photoshopping and the false and unrealistic expectations placed upon women (and men for that matter).” ModCloth recently became the first to sign The Brave Girls Alliance “Truth in Advertising Heroes Pledge,” an anti-airbrushing petition which aims to “do our best not to change the shape, size, proportion, color and/or remove/enhance the physical features, of the people in our ads in post-production.”

That was major, and something their countless customers can and should feel good about. To that end, they just launched their #FashionTruth campaign and they set out to find real women to feature in their campaigns. I attended their “Casting Call For All” event in NYC this past week, and it was a lot of fun. There were snacks, an Instagram-style photo wall and photoshoots going on so they can find their next group of real women to model their gorgeous clothing.

I love the fact that they took the time out — especially during this week of glamour, excess and high fashion — to invite REAL WOMEN to celebrate and show off their personal style.
