Get chic new glasses and help kids in need
Warby Parker Pupils Project is a very cool initiative that I just learned about this morning, but it’s something I think everyone who purchases glasses should know about!
Warby Parker created The Pupils Project to eliminate the barriers that prevent disadvantaged kids from getting proper vision care. Warby Parker’s partners administer vision screenings and eye exams in classrooms (where teachers are often the first to spot eyesight troubles). Then, Warby Parker provides prescription glasses to them, with each student getting to handpick their favorite pair in a trunk show set up at their school. For many kids, this is their very first pair of glasses, which is such a blessing!
I first got eyeglasses back in the 8th grade, and it was because I was having trouble seeing the blackboard in class. And I know for me personally, part of me didn’t want to admit I needed them, because there was still a bit of a stigma around eyeglasses back in the 90s. They’re not the fashion accessory they are today! I kinda wish Warby Parker was around back then, because I would not have been embarrassed at all to wear them (y’all know how much I love Warby Parker).
This year in particular, Warby Parker got together with 10 super creative creatives to design a special collection of glasses to in turn help schoolchildren in need get free glasses! The best part? 100% of all purchases from this collection will support Pupils Project, allowing Warby Parker and their partners reach more students.
The collaborators for this collection all have something very special in common- they’re all New Yorkers, in honor of the program’s origins. Some of the collaborators (just to name a few) are no other than Chloe Sevigny (Actor + Director), Gloria Steinem (Activist + Writer), Rosario Dawson (Actor + philanthropist), Michael K. Williams (Actor + Activist), and many more.
As always, their prescription eyeglasses start at just $95 a pair, which is awesome. There are several cute styles from the collection that I already want, including the green sunglasses designed by Rosario Dawson! For a direct link to the product page, just click on any style below —
