Now that it’s been about 8 months (holy crap!), I wanted to share some of my favorite products as a new dog mom, even though I’m not quite such a new dog mom anymore.

New Dog Mom Must-Have’s
Here are some of the top things I’ve discovered that I cannot live without as a new dog mom:
Double handle leash with padding — this leash has saved my hands. My dog loves walking A LOT (somewhere between 6 and 7 miles a day), so a leash that doesn’t hurt my hands has been clutch. I put one of the padded handles around my wrist and it’s so comfy. I also love the extra length so I can decide how much slack I want to give him, and I can grab the second handle when I want to keep him closer to me.
The Furminator brush — especially for dogs with double or thick coats, this brush perfectly tackles the undercoat and helps us avoid excess shedding. It really gets at my dog’s undercoat without hurting him at all, and it’s really easy to clean, too. We even use it when we give him a bath, to brush the conditioner through.
Earth Rated Dog Wipes — when we come back in from walks, sometimes I’m amazed by how much grime is on his paws. He loves to play in the grass and dirt, but the city sidewalks can also be a minefield. These help keep him nice and clean, and bonus points for making it much easier to get the salt out of his paws during the winter.
Angry Orange Odor Eliminator — thankfully indoor accidents don’t happen very often with our dog, but when they do I know this stuff is going to get rid of the smell completely. It’s perfection. It also doesn’t smell bad on its own (sometimes the cleaner smells just as bad as the mess!).
The Pupsicle — our dog loves this darn thing and will spend a lot of time trying to get whatever’s stuck inside it. They have pre-made treats you can put in there, but the silicone mold that pairs with it is also perfect for the summer when you want to make your dog a frozen treat (ours loves greek yogurt and peanut butter frozen in his), or if your dog is food picky / sensitive.
