In no particular order, here are my favorite looks from last night’s Met Gala —
Zooey Deschanel in Tommy Hilfiger … without her bangs! And what could be more punk than wearing seersucker to a punk-themed event?
Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney … love that color on her, and that belt isn’t messing around.
Anne Hathaway in vintage Valentino … I give her so much credit for trying out the blond. I think she looks amazing!
Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon with a Philip Treacy hat … KILLING IT.
Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga … she is such a fashion chameleon. From 1920s Gatsby girl to avant garde punk without breaking a sweat.
Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta … she’s rocking that chain mail. I wonder how heavy it is!
Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture and Joshua Jackson in Dior Homme … these two are just perfection. Head. to. toe.
Hailee Steinfeld in Donna Karan Atelier … love that the blooms on her dress are made of safety pins. And from what I understand, the dress is actually leather.
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior … this is far from punk (except for her kick-ass shoes) but I think she looks stunning.
Minka Kelly in Carolina Herrera … again, not sure this is incredibly punk, but I think she looks beautiful. Love the hair and makeup, but the lip is a little too matchy-matchy to the dress for me.
Jessica Biel in Giambattista Valli … this may be the most gorgeous, elegant fish net the world has ever seen. Love her.
Mary-Kate Olsen in vintage Chanel Haute Couture with a vintage Balmain jacket … this is pretty much art deco and not punk, but this is the first time in a while I’ve looked at her outfit and not immediately thought, WTF? I actually like this a lot. Can’t say the same for her sister.
Kirsten Dunst in Louis Vuitton … I think this is the best she’s looked in a long time … not really all that punk, but I love the deep dark green on her and the fish net-like detail at the neckline.
Michelle Williams in Saint Laurent … she is head to toe perfection.
