Recently I was able to attend a gala for the Brooklyn chapter of the American Cancer Society. As someone who has been hit very close to home by cancer, I got a little teary-eyed while watching some of the video tributes during the dinner of all the amazing work that this organization does.
I am starting to question whether there really is such a thing as a “selfless good deed” … Aside from being able to make a contribution during the auction at dinner, which made me feel great, I also was able to meet Stacy London.

Now, I have watched What Not To Wear from the very first episode (from before it was Stacy and Clinton), and I am a huge fan of hers … so to meet her and get a sense that she’s a very down to earth and genuine person was really cool.
So what did I wear?
… a $40 dress from Century 21
… a $4 flower brooch from H&M
… two $3 sets of mixed pink and gold bangles from Forever 21
… $12 opaque black tights from Kate Spade
… $30 black suede wedges from Blowfish
Grand total: $89.00 (!)
Proof that you don’t always have to be in designer duds when standing next to a major celeb who inspires you.
